This is a topic as you will discover can be applied to all aspects of life and business - and I encourage you to do so.
Suffering is not reserved for some, but is an experience that we all go through. Even if you have the perspective that pain is part of life and suffering is what happens when you refuse to except it or cling to it: today let’s just accept that we all do it.
We linger too long in feeling badly.
We hesitate in seeking help or assistance.
We can’t always muster the might to break through the shadows.
You aren’t here on this earth to sanitise and sanctify the journey, to become a saint that floats above mortal experiences. Sometimes, we get to simply be gloriously messily, human.
But today we ARE talking about what’s on the other side of suffering. For while it is human and humbling to realise we aren’t going to avoid it (even if we’d really like to) there is light at the end of that tunnel.
To navigate this topic let’s break it down into 3 parts.
1. Acknowledge
2. Accept
3. Advance
Acknowledging that you are suffering is pivotal. Suddenly you can admit the difficulty present in your life right now. This is a great opportunity to write down exactly where and how you are suffering - and do so without judgment, simply awareness of what is occurring. At this stage you might also feel a sense of immediate relief: no more lying that everything is ‘fine’.
Acceptance is different from acknowledging because it requires you to admit that there is nothing wrong with you or the situation. It simply is. Acceptance allows you to grasp that your business, life or circumstances ARE impacted by your current state. At this stage you can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel - cause when you change your state you will begin to change your circumstance.
Advance is where you begin to see what’s beyond the suffering. You may not be able to get there now, or step into this future yet - but there is now space for it to exist within you. That different is coming. That if there is a beginning of something new…there must be an end of what currently is. At this stage you are encouraged to consider what could change: physically, mentally or emotionally?
Today we spoke about a topic many of us avoid, thinking that we are wrong, broken or doomed and I hope it has brought to you some level of relief.
You are not wrong.
You are not broken.
You are not doomed.
I’d love to hear from you about where you currently find yourself suffering - and how this simple 3 step awareness process has helped you.
